Tottenham Hotspur are in the hunt to sign Benfica striker Luka Jovic who is currently on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt, according to Calciomercato.

The Italian football site report that the prolific 20-year-old is now in Spurs’ sights after his performances for the Bundesliga side this season.

Calciomercato claim that London rivals Chelsea are also interested in the Serbia youth international, who has scored nine goals in ten games in all competitions this term.

Jovic scored five of those goals in one game against Fortuna Dusseldorf in a resounding 7-1 win for Frankfurt at the weekend.

Good move for Tottenham Hotspur?

Yes.

Jovic is an extremely talented young striker who looks like he is destined to become a real star in the near future.

The powerful Serbian demonstrated his goalscoring ability with those five goals in one game at the weekend, and Spurs could do with another prolific striker to provide back up for Harry Kane.

The Spurs star has looked fatigued in recent weeks under the intense workload for both club and country, and bringing in another striker is key if Tottenham want to move forward.

Likely to happen?

Unfortunately not.

Jovic is currently in the second year of a two-year loan to Frankfurt, and the Bundesliga club also have the option to make that deal permanent in the summer.

That means that Tottenham would have to work out a deal involving both Benfica and Frankfurt to make this happen, and the likelihood of that happening is unfortunately low.
