Tottenham fans may still be reeling after seeing their side fail to make a single new signing over the summer transfer window, but it appears as though Daniel Levy is not prepared to make the same mistake again any time soon.

The Lilywhites have already been linked with a host of names which they are reportedly chasing ahead of both the January and summer windows of 2019, and the Spurs faithful will be hoping it is not a case of too little, too late after the barren off-season.

One man who Tottenham have been heavily linked with is Sampdoria defender Joachim Andersen, with Italian publication Il Secolo XIX, as relayed via Tuttomercatoweb, stating that they have scouted the 6’2″ (source: Transfermarkt) giant a couple of times already ahead of a prospective move.

With an ageing back line – Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld heading towards the wrong side of 30 – Spurs might already have Davinson Sanchez and Juan Foyth in reserve, but another young head – Andersen being just 22 – would give them a dominant future at the back.

With nine months until the summer transfer window opens, there is plenty of time for things to change, but it seems that Sampdoria owner Massimo Ferraro has already made his mind up about the Danish under-21 international.

It is stated by CalcioMercato that the Italians, who will not sell in January, are looking for £22.2million (€25million) for any club to seal his signing in June, and for someone who looks to be the real deal at his tender age, Levy is onto the bargain of 2019 already.

Considering prices have sky rocketed over recent years – Virgil Van Dijk sold for £75million to Liverpool last January – Levy, who is known for sourcing the best possible deals as the man in charge of transfers, should consider himself delighted to have the opportunity to sign Andersen for such a decent price.

The Spurs chief is not afraid to splash the cash on defenders – Davinson Sanchez being their record signing – and so Andersen, with his proven talent alongside his future potential, is a bargain too good to pass up.
