Germany lost 2-1 to France in their Nations League game on Tuesday night, and many fans have flocked onto Twitter to tear strips off Man City’s Leroy Sane.
He played 75 minutes of the game in which Germany took the lead through Toni Kroos, before going down to two Antoine Griezman goals in the second-half.
It leaves Germany bottom of their group and in danger of relegation in the Nations League after a hugely disappointing World Cup over the summer.
Fans criticised several of the Germany stars last night but City’s Sane came in for the most in a season where he’s struggled to establish himself for club or country.
Here are the best reactions to Sane’s display for Germany last night:
The deficiencies of Sane, Warner and Gnabry on full display today. Not sure there are better options but all have significant weakness to their game.

OPINION
After a brilliant last season, Sane seems to have struggled this season. He was dropped from the Germany squad for the World Cup, which seemed like a terrible decision at the time, born out by a terrible Germany display. However, he has only started three games for Man City in the Premier League too and has scored just the one goal across 10 appearances in all competitions. Last season he scored 10 goals in 32 league games. He wasn’t great for Germany last night but some of the criticism seems harsh. One fan said that he has never seen a player less creative than Sane, while another called his decision making awful. Germany’s malaise goes way deeper than just Sane though. After three games they’re rock bottom of their Nations League group, with just one point. Netherlands are above them and France are on top with seven points. Manager Joachim Low must be feeling the pressure and will be desperate to get something from their final game against the Netherlands. They need to win to avoid relegation.
