Lord Alan Sugar was raging on Twitter when Davinson Sanchez had a goal disallowed in Tottenham’s 2-2 draw with PSV on Wednesday night.

The Colombia international scored a perfectly acceptable goal, but the referee struck it off with the linesman claiming that Harry Kane was in an offside position and had been interfering with play.

While Kane was standing offside, the England captain was behind the goalkeeper so did not impede him and had absolutely no impact on Sanchez’s shot at goal.

Ex-Spurs chairman Sugar was furious after the referee disallowed Sanchez’s perfectly acceptable goal, claiming that it was an incorrect decision.

“Sanchez cheated out of a goal. It was never offside,” he said via his personal Twitter account on Wednesday night.

OPINION

It really wasn’t Tottenham’s night in Eindhoven and while Sanchez’s goal would have made a difference, Spurs still shot themselves in the foot and should have done enough to win the game despite the referee’s bizarre decision to chalk off the Colombian’s goal. Sugar is a big Tottenham fan and it is no shock to see him fuming with the decision as basically all Spurs supporters were. It is going to be hard for Mauricio Pochettino’s side to qualify for the Champions League knock-out rounds now with just one point in three games. They need to make up five points in their next three European fixtures and that is not going to be easy. Barcelona will more than likely win against Spurs again while Inter Milan have proved that they are no push-overs. Europa League isn’t good enough for Spurs, but it looks like it’s the best they can hope for now.
