Sir Kenny Dalglish has been drooling over Celtic ace Tom Rogic, claiming that he is turning into one of the “finest” playmakers in the whole of the UK.

Rogic, 25, has been a mainstay for the Bhoys this season, scoring three goals and supplying four assists in 16 appearances across all competitions.

The twinkle-toed Australian international has already earned himself a lot of fans at Celtic Park, and it appears that Hoops legend Dalglish is also a huge fan of the midfielder.

“Tom Rogic missed the midweek game [against RB Leipzig last week] and I’m sure Brendan Rodgers didn’t want to risk him as he is such an important player,” he said on the Sunday Post website.

“He is maturing into one of the finest players in the UK in the role he plays just off the main striker.

“If he is fit, he brings so much more quality to the Hoops.”

OPINION

Rogic has been very good for Celtic this season but there are some games where you feel as though he needs to do a bit more. Watching him play is gripping sometimes, but other times it can be frustrating as the Aussie will hold on to the ball too long or his final product won’t be there. He is definitely the best attacking midfielder in Scotland but in the whole of the UK? Dalglish must be looking at that one through green and white-tinted glasses. It would be interesting to see how someone like Rogic would get on south of the border but you would think that his lack of pace would let him down. He is perfectly suited for Scottish football because he is tall and strong and can hold the ball up well. The Australia international needs to be a bit more consistent to show that he is one of the best in the UK and he must start stepping up in the big Europa League games.
