Leicester are set to recall their midfielder Harvey Barnes in January, according to a reliable journalist.

Nick Mashiter, a midlands journalist with the Press Association, made the claim on his personal Twitter page on Tuesday afternoon.

He followed that up by saying that was the plan at the moment, although it could change.

As it stands though, he said that Barnes’ time at West Brom could well be cut short.

OPINION

January is the time you’re supposed to strengthen your team, not weaken it. This is the risk with loan moves although we’re not convinced that Leicester will need to recall Barnes. He will definitely get more out of playing for a team that should get promoted from the Championship than he would sat on the Leicester bench. It’s unlikely that he’ll get a first-team place this season, despite the brilliant form he’s shown for West Brom. That’s included five goals in 12 league games for the Baggies from midfield and Darren Moore will be gutted if he has to wave him goodbye in January. West Brom fans will be hoping that their club can convince Leicester to leave him where he is for the rest of the season. If not, Moore might well have to delve into the transfer market again. Whether he’ll be able to find someone as good as Barnes is up for debate – the 20-year-old is already a firm fan favourite.
