Kemar Roofe and Pablo Hernandez are almost over their respective calf and hamstring problems and are expected to play some part in the Under-23s clash against Burnley on Friday, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

That news will come as a huge boost to Leeds who have struggled without their two key attackers.

It is said that defender Gaetano Berardi will also be considered for that fixture.

Leeds Under-23s are set to play Burnley at 1pm on Friday at Thorp Arch.

OPINION

Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa has stated it is his intention to build up the fitness of returning players in the Under-23 games and Friday will give a very clear indicator as to whether both Hernandez and Roofe will be back for the Blackburn clash the following weekend. They’ve both been big misses. Hernandez, possibly the most influential player for Leeds this season before his injury, hasn’t been seen since the 3-0 win over Norwich on August 25. Roofe has missed the last six games, playing last in the 0-0 draw with Middlesborough. Leeds have only won two of the past six games with both of them out, compared to four of the first six. If both of them play on Friday and come through unscathed, it will give Bielsa a big decision to make the following week. We know he likes to name an unchanged side but we think both of these will be slotted straight back into the starting XI.
