A number of Leeds United fans have taken to social media to rage over a Twitter post from Blackburn Rovers after the Ewood Park outfit sealed a 2-1 win over the Whites on Saturday.
Goals from Danny Graham and Darragh Lenihan sealed the three points for Rovers in Lancashire, with Mateusz Klich having netted an equaliser for Marcelo Bielsa’s men, and the home side engaged in some banter at full time.
Turning to their official Twitter account, Blackburn posted a jibe about securing victory, and how Leeds would have taken more than the three points had they won – a jest at a previous post from the Whites about their away attendance.

The Leeds faithful were left fuming over the post, with many retaliating on Twitter with references to the club’s owners and their chicken business.

Good to see the #rovers players coming out and showing respect to their opponent, acknowledging their good win and not trying to disrespect them at the same time. This classless tweet may well bite you in the arse. I hope it does

Opinion
Leeds fans are known for dishing out their fair share of banter when things are going their way, so they should well expect to have some sent their way in return if they do suffer defeat. It was a very clever tweet from the official Rovers account, and while their fans will be basking in not only the success but getting one over their Championship rivals on social media, the Whites faithful will be stewing at home, waiting for their next chance to get their promotion bid back on track. To be fair to the travelling support, it was a great turn out with the Leeds fans making up more than a third of the overall attendance at Ewood Park with over 7,700 heading over to Lancashire. It goes to show how far Rovers have fallen from being Premier League champions, but at the same time highlights that Leeds, when given the chance, will travel in great numbers to support their team.
