A number of Nottingham Forest supporters have been reacting with anger to goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon’s performance in the team’s 2-1 defeat to Norwich City on Saturday.
It was a lacklustre effort from Aitor Karanka’s side, as a Timm Klose brace saw the Canaries come from behind to win after Lewis Grabban’s early strike.
And Romania international Pantilimon emerged as a target for fan anger following a hapless display between the sticks from the former Watford man.

For me Dawson must start every game, need a leader and organised at the back. Pantilimon must be dropped, doesn’t inspire confidence nor commands his area. Get Steele in until January and then sign Westwood in January. That would improve our defence 100% #nffc

Just don’t understand Pantilimon. He consistently slows play down, his kicking is awful and for a 6ft8 man his aerial work is dreadful. Blackburn, Millwall and now today he’s cost us potentially 9 points. Surely time for Steele to step up and given the chance? #nffc

Pantilimon ? …. put a couple of kicks out of play, looked like he tried to catch a ball with clenched fists, flapped at crosses and flirted with a red card. Already booked for time wasting, ref signalling to hurry up and he still took his time! #nffc

Said countless times Steele should be starting in front of him.

Pantilimon is a worry for me. It’s not just his inability to catch the ball but his distribution also tends to put us under pressure as well. Not convinced #nffc

Pantilimon doesn’t fill me with confidence either. He wasn’t great today. Poor distribution, flapped at the ball a few times and doesn’t seem to know when to come and when to stay home. Would like to see Steele given a chance to stake a claim in the league #nffc

OPINION
Saturday wasn’t Pantilimon’s finest day at the office was it? The giant goalkeeper has had a tough start to the season and it continued against Daniel Farke’s side. He didn’t seem to know what to do against Norwich. He often seemed hesitant about coming off his line, and he didn’t do well enough when parrying Jordan Rhodes’s effort into Klose’s path for the visitors winner at the City Ground. Pantilimon is a former Premier League goalkeeper; he should be doing better than this. You can understand why the Forest supporters were so frustrated by him, and there are already calls for Luke Steele to be given a run of games in between the sticks. Karanka has to look at making a change in goal because Pantilimon is costing them points. His senseless booking, as well, showed that he was rattled and the ‘keeper needs to step it up if he is to maintain his starting spot moving forward.
