Aston Villa rescued a 1-1 draw in injury time against Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park on Saturday, and many fans have taken to Twitter to rip into Ahmed Elmohamady for his display.
Conor Hourihane was the hero for Steve Bruce’s side as the Republic of Ireland international scored a beautiful free-kick in the 93rd minute to secure a point after Bradley Dack’s opener.
Many fans have now reacted on Twitter to Villa’s performance, with some singling out Egypt international Elmohamady for a poor outing on the right-wing.
This is Futbol have rounded up some of the best tweets:
Taylor Chester Jedinak, Elmohamady should be nowhere near our starting 11. Bruce scared to make a change. #bruceout #dinosaur #AVFC

Elmohamady is not a footballer and contributes nothing going forward. Playing him on the right wing is akin to the managers son taking free kicks and pens. Right back or nothing for me.

Who else would play Elmo as a winger over El Ghazi, Bolasie, Adomah, Kodjia or Grealish?…

OPINION
This section of Villa fans are obviously angry at Elmohamady for a poor display, and who can blame them? The Egypt international was ineffective all day, with his delivery into the area being particularly wayward. He struggled to make any sort of positive impact going forward, and that really stunted Villa’s attacking threat as they failed to provide enough service to Tammy Abraham up front. That being said, the fact is that Elmohamady is not a natural winger. The Egyptian wide man is much better suited to play right-back, and yet Bruce continues to insist on using him in a more advanced position. That is a move which makes even less sense than it has done in the past with players like Yannick Bolasie and Anwar El Ghazi now available to him. You can see why many Villa fans do not believe that Bruce is the right man for the job, with the boss continually making nonsensical decisions like this.
