A section of Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to destroy Ryan Kent for his performance in their side’s 2-2 Europa League draw at Villarreal on Thursday night.
The on-loan winger from Liverpool played the full 90 minutes of the clash in Spain as Steven Gerrard’s side twice came from behind to secure a memorable result.
Many supporters were disappointed with the contribution of Kent, who was used as one of three attackers by the visitors.

Some of the criticism of Kent is more than a little harsh given the calibre of the opposition last night and the fact that Rangers are fourth seeds in the Europa League group. The 21-year-old is just taking his first steps at this level, and it can hardly be expected that he can rip such an experienced and high quality team to shreds. That said, the 5ft 9in winger (source: Transfermarkt) has much to learn and needs to work on being a consistently effective operator for the Gers. He was outstanding last weekend in the 4-0 win at Dundee as he scored his first goal for the club at the 11th time of asking. But Kent needs to be more consistently dangerous in and around the penalty box, both in terms of creating and scoring goals. A tally of one goal and one assist from 12 matches is pretty thin gruel, especially when considering the calibre of much of the opposition that Rangers have been playing. With rising star Glen Middleton breathing down his neck, Kent needs to consistently deliver the goods.
