A section of football fans have taken to Twitter to slam Rangers midfielder Ryan Jack for his display for Scotland in their 4-0 loss to Belgium on Friday evening.

Jack was a second-half substitute for Alex McLeish’s side as goals from Romelu Lukaku, Eden Hazard and a double from Michy Batshuayi sealed a big win for the World Cup semi-finalists.

Many fans have slaughtered Jack for his display after coming on after 53 minutes, with the Gers star guilty of giving the ball away in the build-up to Belgium’s fourth.

OPINION

These fans have all been extremely quick to slam Jack after his display for Scotland, and you can’t help but feel that they are being very harsh on the Rangers man. Jack came on to the pitch with his side 3-0 down already, so for him to get so much abuse for playing a role in the concession of the fourth goal is unjustified. There are reports that the midfield enforcer was booed as he came on as well, and for that to happen at Hampden Park is pretty disgraceful. Jack may not be the most popular player in Scotland but for a player to be booed while coming on for his national team is ridiculous. Apart from his mistake it was actually an OK performance from the 26-year-old, and one that he can build on. It is no wonder that many Rangers fans refuse to support Scotland amid such a poor attitude towards their players, and that is something which needs to change in Scottish football.
