A section of Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to express their delight at the performance of John McGinn in their team’s 2-0 win over Rotherham on Tuesday night.
Goals from summer signings Tammy Abraham and Yannick Bolasie eased the pressure on manager Steve Bruce as the Midlands giants ended their five-match winless run.
But it was another summer arrival in McGinn, who signed from Hibernian, who really blew away the Villa masses.
This Is Futbol has rounded up some of the best tweets below.
COMMENTARY:
For a player who joined for a fee the Times report to be £2.75million, McGinn is already looking remarkably good value. He is the midfield string-puller Villa had been crying out for before his arrival. The 23-year-old’s passing, mobility, work rate and especially his attitude are all top class, and supporters are raving about him after every game. McGinn was once again the name on many fans’ lips after last night’s much-needed triumph at Villa Park even though deadline-day arrivals Abraham and Bolasie got the goals. Behind them was the Scotland international conducting the orchestra and demonstrating how there are some real gems to be found north of the border for clubs willing to mine deep enough. McGinn looks a £10million player already, and Celtic will be kicking themselves that they would not meet the asking price for the boyhood Bhoy and were beaten to the punch by Villa.

Clean sheet, 3 points, what more can you ask for, 4-4-2 looked good 1st half should of been out of sight! Super John McGinn what a player he’s turning out to be! #avfc pic.twitter.com/LMgX7rw26L

#AVFC got the win, but it wasn’t hugely convincing. Steve Bruce took a swing, Tammy Abraham and Bolaise brought the thunder, John McGinn carved out his kingdom. Here’s our match report. https://t.co/nQYJjzIygn

Nyland needs to improve with crosses and his distribution.
Elmohamody played solid.
Jedinak had a blinder.
Chester looked back at his best.
Hourihane/McGinn midfield worked their socks off.
Grealish needs to shoot more.
Abraham and Kodjia looked superb #avfc— AVFCchats ? (@AVFCchats) September 18, 2018
Unpopular opinion but Mcginn makes Grealish look basic, that guy is class x #avfc

Still not as good of a performance as we should be putting in. But an improvement on recent games, finally a clean sheet, good to see Bolasie and Abraham getting their first goals. Also, a standard John McGinn is great mention #AVFC pic.twitter.com/KHvtFLiyD1
