West Brom are closing in on two new signings even though the loan window closed last week, according to Football Insider.

The reliable site claim the Championship club have turned their attention to landing centre-back Russell Martin and attacking midfielder Wes Hoolahan.

Both players are undergoing trails at West Brom and could join on free transfers in the coming days after severing their ties with Norwich City last month.

Hoolahan and Martin will become Moore’s ninth and 10th summer signings if they impress during their trial stints after Tyrone Mears joined on a short-term deal last week as arrival number eight.

OPINION

Could Norwich’s loss about to become West Brom’s gain? That could well be the case as the big spending second-tier outfit look to take advantage of the free agent market after signing eight new players during the transfer window proper. Hoolahan and Martin are both proven performers with vast experience at both Premier League and Championship level. Their CVs brook little argument. The question for West Brom is, can they still cut it in such a demanding division where time waits for no man. Hoolahan has already blown out 36 candles on his birthday cake, while Martin is 32. The playmaker, who is revered by Norwich fans for his outstanding 10-year spell at the club, was in and out of the team at Carrow Road last season. By contrast, Martin spent the second half of the campaign at Rangers before his contract at Norwich was terminated by mutual consent a few days ago. If their attitudes and fitness are spot on, they are both good enough to make an impact for the Baggies this season.
