A section of West Ham fans have hopped onto social media to tear into midfielder Mark Noble for his performance against Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday.
Even though the Hammers enjoyed their first Premier League win of the season by beating the Toffees 3-1, the 31-year-old club captain was the focus of a lot of criticism on Twitter.
Some West Ham fans were baffled by Noble’s passing abilities, while one claimed that he was “Everton’s best player”.

OPINION
Noble is one of the biggest scapegoats in the Premier League. He was nowhere near as bad as these West Ham fans have made out, who even though they went on to earn three points, simply had to pick out one player and be extremely negative about him. It is fair enough to say that the midfielder is not as good as he once was because his appearances in the last 12 months have been below his expected standard. Noble is a West Ham fan and will know that he hasn’t been good enough as much as the next guy. However there’s a time and place for criticism and it’s not now because his inclusion at Goodison Park helped the Hammers to a very good three points against what was an unbeaten team. Throw someone like Carlos Sanchez into that midfield and it would surely have been a different result.
