A section of Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to destroy Eric Dier for his performance in the 2-1 win against Brighton at the AMEX on Saturday evening.
Harry Kane’s first-half penalty and a quality strike by Erik Lamela after the break were enough for Spurs to get back to winning ways on the south coast – however it was not enough for some fans.
Dier received pelters online from a number of Spurs supporters, with one even claiming that he wants him to be sold in January.

Spurs need to get Wanyama in the mix. Dier offers nothing going forward.

Dier and Dembele is waste against teams without a dominant midfield. Could use more creativity for sure. It would be another conversation if they were winning balls and launching the attack. They are simply sitting too deep.

Dier, Eriksen and Vertonghen have been very poor in the last few games #thfc

OPINION
Here we go again, more Spurs fans targetting the weekly scapegoat. What does Dier have to do to impress some fans? He was very good on the ball against Brighton and solid when he had to do his defensive work off it. His role as an anchorman isn’t very glamorous, but that does not take away from how important he is to the team and some fans just need to try and dig out a negative in him whenever he plays. Dier is England’s best defensive midfielder and Spurs are very lucky to have him. It wasn’t that long ago when he was being linked to Manchester United as well. Spurs would not have been as solid at the AMEX without Dier playing well and he deserves a lot more credit for his role. Mauricio Pochettino won’t be concerned though, he knows how important he is and will continue to play him despite the haters making themselves loud on Twitter.
