Mauricio Pochettino must make a number of changes if he wants to name his best possible Tottenham line-up against Huddersfield this weekend – and that means axing Moussa Sissoko and Victor Wanyama.

The big-money duo had shockers in the Carabao Cup penalty shoot-out win over Watford at Stadium MK on Wednesday night and need to be dropped from the line-up in order to earn three points at the John Smith’s on Saturday.

Wanyama, on £70,000-a-week [Daily Star] and Sissoko, who earns £95,000-a-week [Daily Star] should both be replaced by Christian Eriksen and Mousa Dembele in the midfield as Pochettino reverts to a 3-4-2-1 formation.

Paulo Gazzaniga has been impressive since coming in for the injured Hugo Lloris and Michel Vorm, so he must continue in goals as Lloris could remain sidelined for this weekend’s action.

Toby Alderweireld, Davinson Sanchez and Jan Vertonghen should be Pochettino’s back-line for the trip to Yorkshire with Kieran Trippier and Danny Rose returning to the wing-back positions over Serge Aurier and Ben Davies.

Dembele and Eriksen should line up in midfield with Dele Alli and Lucas Moura ahead of them in more attacking roles.

Harry Kane was rested against Watford and must return to action to spearhead the attack on his own. Hopefully the midweek rest will leave the England international reinvigorated and ready to answer some critics this weekend.
