A section of Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to rave about Borna Barisic for his display in their club’s 2-2 Europa League draw at Villarreal last night (Thursday).
The £2million summer signing from Osijek assisted the second equaliser for Kyle Lafferty with a pinpoint cross from the left flank as Steven Gerrard’s side twice came from behind to secure a memorable result.
Many Bears were thrilled with the performance of Barisic, with comments including “revelation” and “exceptional”.

Rangers supporters were in meltdown over the move that led to Lafferty’s goal in Spain on a night that once again demonstrated the immense strides made by the side under Steven Gerrard. It oozed quality in the build-up and execution and came in a second half in which the visitors were far more competitive after a meek first period. The impressive substitute Glenn Middleton fed overlapping left-back Barisic and his pinpoint first-time cross was tucked in beautifully by Lafferty. It was a move that demonstrated why Decan John was sold to Swansea and Lee Wallace demoted to the fringes. Barisic, 25, is the undisputed first choice at left-back, one of the few positions where Rangers have been consistently strong over the last half decade. He has settled in well following his summer arrival and should continue to go from strength to strength as he grows in confidence.
