A section of fans took to Twitter to rave about Callum McGregor after his performance for Scotland in their 2-0 Nations League win against Albania on Monday night.
The Celtic midfielder played 79 minutes of the Hampden clash, which was decided by a Steven Naismith header that went in off Berat Djimsiti before the Hearts forward nodded the Scots’ second after a dreadful piece of goalkeeping at a corner.
Supporters of all clubs were hugely impressed by the contribution made by McGregor, with comments including “frightening” and “sensational”.

COMMENTARY:
McGregor is not always appreciated as much by non-Celtic fans as he could be, and international recognition came late for him, but his rapid improvement under Brendan Rodgers was clear with his performance in central midfield last night. Scotland badly needed the win to quell the rising tide of doubt surrounding Alex McLeish, and got it through at convincing triumph that at times even verged on the flamboyant. McGregor was key to Scotland’s dominance as he helped his team establish a foothold in midfield alongside John McGinn and Kevin McDonald. The Celtic man’s energy, awareness and touch were of the highest class as he took his impressive club form this season to the international stage. Many have claimed the 25-year-old Hoops academy product simply benefits from the quality of those around him at his club. That accusation has been proved to be an unfair and incorrect one.
Also, I've said it before but Callum McGregor needs to be starting every game. Outstanding.

Impressed with Scotland tonight, especially Callum McGregor. Whole team pressed and harassed from the get go. Sooo much work still to be done but the win is well needed to start building on.

Been banging the drum for Stephen O'Donnell for a while now. Was the best right-back in the Premiership last season. Excellent performance tonight. John Souttar & Callum McGregor also impressive. McLeish has plenty to build on. #SCOALB
