A number of Celtic fans have turned to Twitter to savage the display of former transfer target and Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn after his display for Scotland on Monday evening.
The former Hibernian man, who, reported by the BBC, was hunted by the Hoops over the summer window before moving to Villa Park, was among the starting XI for the Scottish national side in their clash with Albania in their first UEFA Nation’s League match.
Many of the Hoops supporters slammed his performance on social media and claimed that they were delighted that they missed out on his capture to Villa.
This is Futbol has rounded up a selection of the supporters’ tweets:

Opinion
There were plenty of Celtic fans who were left bemoaning their side’s inability to get McGinn over the line in the summer but there seem to be a fair few who have changed their tune quite significantly. He had such a hit and miss display for Scotland against Albania, putting in some brilliant passes up front but then conceding possession with stupid decisions, which more often than not put his side under serious pressure. He does not look like the game changing talent that Celtic would have been hoping for had they signed him and considering the Hoops are looking for an improvement on the European stage, he would not have been the man to lift their performances. Still, he could prove everyone wrong by performing well with Villa this season and helping them to Championship success, but in this international outing he was caught out more often than not.
