Steven Gerrard is expected to make three changes to his Rangers side when they take on St Johnstone at Ibrox on Sunday.

The Light Blues drew 2-2 with Villarreal in Spain on Thursday, so Gerrard is likely to rotate a few of his players while also axing Joe Worrall after the Nottingham Forest loanee had an underwhelming debut for Gers in Spain.

Borna Barisic and Kyle Lafferty are also expected to drop out of the side, with Jon Flanagan and Alfredo Morelos starting instead and Nikola Katic replacing Worrall at centre-back.

Allan McGregor is likely to start in goals behind a back four of James Tavernier, Connor Goldson, Katic and Jon Flanagan.

Worral, who according to the Sun in January [10:02am] is valued at £20million by Forest, clearly struggled in his first appearance for the Gers when Gerrard surprisingly rested Katic against Villarreal, so the Rangers boss is likely to revert to his regular centre-back pairing this weekend.

Rangers’ midfield options are still a bit thin due to injuries, so Andy Halliday, Scott Arfield and Lassana Coulibaly are expected to remain in the centre of Gerrard’s formation.

Daniel Candeias is expected to start on the right wing, with Liverpool loanee Ryan Kent on the left.

Up front, Gerrard is likely to rest Lafferty after his shift in Spain on Thursday, so Morelos could return to the starting line up after serving his one-match ban in European competition.
