OPINION

Another Premier League clash for West Ham, another defeat as Wolves’ Adama Traore’s injury time winner condemned Manuel Pellegrini and his men to their fourth consecutive league loss this season.

Having kept the visitors at bay for 92 minutes at the London Stadium, the Irons were undone by a last minute counter attack which saw the lightning fast winger fire past Lukasz Fabianski to break the hearts of the home crowd and leave the Hammers without a point going into the international break.

It was a disappointing end to the clash for Pellegrini, who saw his side pass up some good chances up the other end of the pitch, with Wolves goalkeeper Rui Patricio pulling off some important sides for the newly promoted side.

This is Futbol has rounded up three things learned about the Irons in their home defeat:

Fabianski unable to save the Irons again

In comparison to previous performances this was not the worst display from the Hammers, but once again it was goalkeeper Fabianski who stole the show.

The shot stopper was always well positioned to keep Wolves at bay and without his performance, this could have been much more than a narrow defeat for the Irons.

West Ham cannot keep relying on the experienced keeper to try and save them points, for as proven today, despite his best efforts there is much more needed from the rest of the side.

Pellegrini needs to figure out his best attack

Despite splashing out millions upon millions of pounds on new signings both in defence and in attack, manager Pellegrini still appears to be unaware of his best starting XI, especially when it comes to the forward line.

Andriy Yarmalenko came off the bench at half time for Robert Snodgrass, while Javier Hernandez also featured later on, but despite the changes the cutting edge was still lacking.

Pellegrini needs to find his best options in the starting XI if he wants to pick up a win any time soon, for at the moment the Irons are looking out of sorts.

Wilshere a waste of space

For many watching on at the London Stadium, it would have taken until the 64th minute to realise Jack Wilshere had started the game, and that is because it was the moment he was hooked by Pellegrini.

The West Ham supporter was meant to be a game changer for the Irons after joining on a free from Arsenal, but despite reportedly splashing out £100,000-a-week for his services (Source: The Sun) he is offering absolutely nothing from the middle.

He was anonymous against Wolves and was a waste of space with the likes of Pedro Obiang and Mark Noble on the bench Pellegrini needs to decide whether to keep faith in the former Gunner or pull the trigger on his first team spot.
