Wolves great Steve Bull has revealed that he thinks defender Willy Boly, winger Adama Traore and forward Diogo Jota should have had international call-ups recently.

The club’s record goalscorer has been loving the football being played at Molineux this season, and only wishes more Wolves stars received call-ups as a reward.

“It is great to see 10 of our players have received international call-ups but at the top of my list would be Willy Boly, Adama Traore and Diogo Jota – none of whom have been called up (yet anyway),” he wrote in the Express & Star.

“They need to play as ruthlessly for their country as they do their club. If your heart isn’t it then that is when you get injured. Fingers crossed they come back in one piece.”

Boly’s call-up to the French squad might be some way away as yet, while the same could probably be said for Traore and Spain. Jota, on the other hand, can’t be too far off a Portugal call.

OPINION

Wolves deserve to have so many players off on international duty. They had a superb season last time around, while they’ve started this campaign positively as well in the Premier League. Obviously some in-form players will always miss out, that’s just the way it goes. Jota hasn’t been at his scintillating best so far this year, but his form from last year should surely have warranted a look from Portugal boss Fernando Santos. Boly getting called up for France seems a rather remote proposition, as the World Cup winners are blessed with world class defenders at present. If Traore continues on his current trajectory then he will surely make the senior Spain squad at some point, but like Boly he represents a terrific footballing nation so it will be tough. However, if all three continue what they’re doing for Wolves anything’s possible. All they can do is keep playing well for their club and see where it takes them.
