It would be fair to say that everyone at West Ham had much higher hopes for Javier Hernandez when he arrived at the club last summer – and just over a year on from his arrival things do not look like getting better any time soon.

His record of just nine goals in 38 appearances leaves plenty to be desired, and the fact he was usurped by Marko Arnautovic – a left winger by trade – last season shows he is not the man the Irons thought they were getting their hands on.

Lucas Perez has now joined the club to add more competition and with Andy Carroll making his way back from an injury layoff, the possibility of Chicarito falling to fourth choice in the pecking order is not beyond the realms of reality – especially if the club choose to sign a new striker in January.

Transfer Market Web have claimed that Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata, another who struggled in his first season in London, was someone the Hammers were keeping tabs on over the summer and that there could be a potential loan exit from Stamford Bridge on the cards.

A move between the capital for the 25-year-old would be a massive shock for everyone involved, but it appears as though a surprise swoop could actually be on the cards.

Spanish publication AS report that the player himself would be open to a switch between the London rivals as it would give him a boost in returning to the starting XI of Spain’s national side, having been left as an unused substitute in their recent games.

If Morata is indeed game to play for the Hammers, then it is a no brainer – they swoop to snap him up on loan and they ship 5’7″ (source: Transfermarkt) Hernandez out the door.

Arnautovic, Morata, Carroll and Perez makes quite the reading for the Hammers fans, and aside from the former Arsenal man, they have all proven to be a dangerous asset up top for their respective clubs.
