Losing out on an up and coming talent to your rivals is always going to be a bitter blow, and the same could be said for Tottenham Hotspur in their pursuit of goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu.

The Telegraph have reported that Manchester City have agreed a £420,000 fee for the 16-year-old, who will join the club next summer.

However, Spurs were also incredibly keen on landing the youngster for themselves, submitting an offer last month in the hope that the ace would be convinced to join forces with them.

But that was not to be the case, as he decided that joining the current Premier League champions would be the best move for him.

Even though he is very young, this would have still served a bitter blow to the Lilywhites, who were hoping to guide and help develop Bazunu over the coming seasons.

Yes, he would have gone straight out on loan if he had chosen to make the move to North London, but they will obviously be gutted that they have missed out on a player who has the potential to be a fantastic goalkeeper.

At the age of 16, it is not often that you also attract the likes of Liverpool and Celtic unless you are something really special.

Seeming as he did attract the admiration of those clubs, it is safe to say that City have a really exciting prospect on their hands.

It is not often that a goalkeeper as young as Bazunu is found, particularly with the level of potential that he has – he kept four clean sheets in all four of his league outings for Shamrock Rovers as their youngest ever first team player.

This prospect would serve even more of a bitter blow to Spurs, as it means that they will have scour the market once again to find a hidden gem.
