Southampton gave up a two-goal lead as Brighton fought back to draw 2-2 at St. Mary’s on Monday night, and many fans have taken to Twitter to rave about striker Danny Ings.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg opened the scoring with a goal of the season contender from 35 yards before Ings scored his third of the season from the spot, but a header from Shane Duffy and an injury-time penalty from Glenn Murray saw the points shared.
Many Saints fans on Twitter were delighted with Ings’ performance up front, with the £75,000-a-week striker [Spotrac] impressing once again for the club.

OPINION
These Southampton fans seem pretty happy with Ings’ performance against Brighton, and who can blame them? The 26-year-old was a menace all day for them up front, and deserved his goal. His touch and run to earn the penalty was quality, and the way he put the spot-kick away so confidently was reassuring. That is three goals in five games for Saints this season for Ings, and he has now scored more Premier League goals for the club than he did during his three seasons at Liverpool, where he was ravaged by two serious injuries. It is brilliant to see him back and in such good form, and hopefully it continues for the rest of the season. You can’t help but feel as though Southampton will be reliant upon his goals this season if they are to stay up, and another injury would be a bit of a disaster for Mark Hughes’ side.
