Manchester United secured a valuable Premier League win on Sunday as they overcame Burnley 2-0 at Turf Moor, but some fans have taken to Twitter to slam mainstay Paul Pogba for his performance.

Romelu Lukaku opened the scoring with a header and then doubled United’s lead just before the break, while Pogba then saw a penalty saved and Marcus Rashford was sent off in the second half.

Some United fans have been quick to criticise the £290,000-a-week midfielder [Total Sportek] for his display against the Clarets, with the France international deemed to have put in a poor performance by some.

OPINION

These Manchester United fans seem pretty adamant that Pogba had a poor game against Burnley, but they may be allowing his penalty miss to cloud their judgement. The France international was everywhere for United against the Clarets, and while there were some frustrating moments in which he could have done better, it was a solid performance overall from the midfielder. Admittedly, his penalty miss will have annoyed a few people, especially considering his unnecessary run up and the fact that he could have let Lukaku take it for his hat-trick, but apart from that he put in a decent display. There are still a few areas of his game where he needs to improve to become truly world class, and his inconsistency is slightly worrying. Overall this was a satisfying win for the Red Devils after last weekend’s shambles against Tottenham, and it was a good way to bounce back before the international break.
