Ryan Giggs has hailed Liverpool as “scary” as he claimed Jurgen Klopp has assembled the best team the club have produced in the last 26 years.
The Wales manager and Manchester United legend has been blown away by the Anfield combination that has produced six wins from six league matches this season.
“From 1-11 there’s probably not been a better Liverpool team in the Premier League – when Raheem Sterling, Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge were on fire they were really impressive but probably overall it looks like a more balanced team now,” Giggs told Sky Sports.
“You’ve got players who’ve been in the team a couple of years and you’ve got young players coming through with experience of Jordan Henderson and James Milner so it’s a good blend in there.
“Liverpool haven’t played well in some games but scraped results, which is actually quite scary because if you’re able to do that, that’s championship form, so not only the swash-buckling three or four goals, but digging out results is what you need to do to win it.”

Giggs is spot on. There is barely a flaw in the team assembled by Klopp, with goalkeeper Alisson looking every inch the final piece of the jigsaw after the transformative January signing of Virgil van Dijk. Man United legend Giggs does not name either of those two – he instead points to the valuable experience of midfield workaholics James Milner and Jordan Henderson as holding everything together – but he makes the excellent point that it is a better combination than the gung-ho team Brendan Rodgers so nearly steered to the Premier League title four years ago. Liverpool lost to Chelsea in the League Cup in midweek – a narrow defeat in which Eden Hazard scored one of the best goals ever seen at Anfield – but still have a 100 per cent Premier League record heading into Saturday evening’s Stamford Bridge showdown. If they extend that record, they might even edge Man City as slight title favourites.
