Everton had the biggest deadline day out of all Premier League clubs as they brought in four new faces in the closing moments of the summer window.

Among those was Colombia international Yerry Mina, who was brought in from Barcelona £27.2million on the back of an impressive showing at the World Cup for his country.

The 23-year-old is yet to play for his new club owing to an injury issue that has kept him out of action, but according to reports he is now closing in on a debut.

Unfortunately for him however, a study by the CIES World Football Observatory has now piled more pressure on him ahead of his debut.

The report compares the fee paid for each player by the buying club with the estimated market value of that player to produce an idea of whether a club underpaid or overpaid for their services.

Mina comes out third on the list of players for whom their clubs overpaid, with his market value being placed at an estimated £11.5million, revealing that Everton overpaid by £16.7million for the 6ft 5in colossus.

It did indeed raise eyebrows when the Toffees splashed out such a large amount for his services, especially considering the fact that Barcelona were quite obviously happy to get rid of him after just six months at the club.

Clubs signing players on the back of impressive World Cup showing is always a risky move, and it is now up to Mina to prove that is not the case.

This latest study gives Mina a mountain to climb even before he has made his debut for his new club, and the Colombian will no doubt be raring to prove himself when he runs out in the Everton colours for the first time.
