West Brom chief executive Mark Jenkins has held talks with multiple candidates as the club’s search for a new technical director rumbles on, according to Express & Star journalist Matt Wilson.

The reporter claimed on his personal Twitter account on Wednesday that Nottingham Forest’s Luke Dowling is among consideration for the senior role at The Hawthorns, but Jenkins is keeping his options open at this stage.

The Baggies did have Giuliano Terraneo as a temporary technical consultant over the summer, but his spell at Black Country was cut short due to reported differences with Jenkins and manager Darren Moore.

OPINION

West Brom need to sort this out as soon as possible. It was a disappointing end to the summer transfer window with Moore now seemingly relying on free agents to pad out his squad. Depending on how well Albion do in the January transfer window could potentially make or break their bid for promotion back to the Premier League. January will soon be upon us and West Brom need to be scouting players and weighing up potential signings sooner rather than later and they will be able to do that a lot better with a technical director on board. Nick Hammond was sacked from the role by Guochuan Lai in April, so that role has been empty for too long and Terraneo’s temporary spell at the club simply did not work out. It was always a danger getting someone in who has no experience in England and was only meant to be a on short-term deal.
