Ian Taylor has been raving about Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn as the Scotland international continues to impress since his summer switch to the West Midlands.

McGinn, 23, has been electric form for the Villains and put in yet another man of the match shift in the 2-0 win over Rotherham at Villa Park on Tuesday night.

Villa icon Taylor has been thoroughly enjoying the midfielder’s form, and claims that with every game he plays he appears to be getting better and better.

“More impressed every time I see John McGinn. He’s going to be a great player for us,” said Taylor via his personal Twitter account on Wednesday morning.

OPINION

McGinn has only made seven appearances since joining Aston Villa from Hibernian in the summer, but he looks as though he has been with the club for years. Steve Bruce has been under a lot of pressure from the club’s supporters and the style of football played really isn’t what would normally suit McGinn. However his ability is shining through with a series of fantastic playmaking performances. Can he keep it up all season? Taylor seems to think so, but if he continues to play any better then there are bound to be Premier League clubs taking a look at him in the near future. Luckily, McGinn will still have another three years left on his deal at the end of this season so Villa will not be pressured into selling him. However the money and the reputation of the Premier League could be too much for the Scotland international, especially if Villa do not get promoted in the next couple of seasons.
