Aston Villa have confirmed that Ross McCormack has left the club to join Central Coast Mariners on loan – and a section of fans on Twitter are happy to see the back of the 32-year-old.
The Championship club announced via their official Twitter account on Wednesday night that McCormack has joined the Australian A-League side on a season-long loan deal, and some Villa supporters are more than happy with the news.

OPINION
McCormack’s spell at Villa Park has been a complete and utter joke. Aston Villa not only paid too much to Fulham to sign him, they also offered him a stupid wage packet and that was one of the large contributing factors to their financial worries in the summer. Not only has the Scotland international been shocking on the pitch for Villa, he has also been a liability off it and the only bad thing about his exit from the club is that it is not permanent. Villa fans obviously want his exit to be made permanent judging by these reactions, and that one fan who said that it was Steve Bruce’s biggest mistake to not terminate his contract is probably right. Villa won’t ever get a decent transfer fee for McCormack, who still has almost two years on his contract. He will probably just keep being sent out on loan until that expires.
