Rangers return to action on Saturday when they welcome Dundee to Ibrox with Steven Gerrard’s men aiming to bounce back after defeat in the Old Firm derby before the international break.

While most of the players will surely be chomping at the bit to get three points, one who must be axed and not feature in the starting line-up is Ryan Kent, who had an absolute shocker against Celtic and Gerrard has better options than him to utilise.

Kent, 21, is on loan at Ibrox from Liverpool but is yet to score a goal for the club in his first 10 appearances across all competitions.

The summer signing has also only supplied the one assist in those games and hasn’t shown on a consistent basis that he is able to get involved in games and have a real impact on the outcome.

Against Celtic, he was completely anonymous and offered barely any output when Rangers’ best chance of a breakthrough would have more than likely been on a counter attack.

Gerrard does have another young winger waiting to shine and Glenn Middleton must be called upon to start against Dundee this weekend.

With Jamie Murphy out for the rest of the season and Eros Grezda unlikely to be ready, 18-year-old Middleton is Gerrard’s best bet and the highly-rated ex-Norwich teen simply has to start.

Kent will find his form at some point, but he needs to know that his spot in the starting line-up isn’t invincible just because he’s a Liverpool lad who is managed by a Liverpool legend.
