West Brom are on the verge of completing the signing of free agent Bakary Sako, according to freelance journalist Tim Nash.

The former Express & Star reporter claimed via his personal Twitter account on Thursday night that Sako, 30, has already completed his medical with the Black Country club and is set to be the Baggies’ second out of window signing after Wes Hoolahan joined last week.

Sako, formerly of Wolves, has been out of contract since leaving Crystal Palace at the end of last season and it is understood that he rejected a new deal with the Premier League club before his exit.

Good move for West Brom?

Sako has been without a club for quite some time and has a fairly bad injury record, so it could be quite a risk signing someone who might be on a decent wage.

However Sako is more than proven at this level and would have been a massive asset to any team in the Championship, having scored 24 goals and supplied 21 assists in 78 appearances in this league.

West Brom’s attack is already lethal enough and opposing defences are going to have another reason to be scared of the Baggies with Sako in Darren Moore’s arsenal.

Likely to happen?

With Sako’s medical already done and Moore’s willingness to sign free agents clear, this deal looks as though it will go through any time soon and West Brom will have a very good player added to their ranks.

Sako has had injury problems in the past but has completed his medical with the Black Country club, so expect this deal to be confirmed by Albion fairly soon.
