Former Rangers striker Kris Boyd has once again risked the wrath of Celtic fans with a damning verdict on how the club are currently playing.

Even the most hardened of Hoops fan will admit that Brendan Rodgers’ side is yet to reach it’s full potential in the opening weeks of this season, especially after they struggled to break down Rosenborg in a 1-0 win in the Europa League on Thursday and were held to a 0-0 draw with St Mirren last week.

Writing on the Scottish Sun website, Kilmarnock striker Boyd has not been afraid to question some of Celtic’s players, especially the senior trio of Tom Rogic, Olivier Ntcham and Callum McGregor.

“Celtic aren’t getting in behind teams like they once did. Tom Rogic, Olivier Ntcham and Callum McGregor look a pale shadow,” Boyd said.

“That’s why someone like Griffiths is so important to Celtic. If he gets half a chance he’ll take it.”

None of those three players looked any good against Rosenborg on Thursday and Rodgers should really consider axing two or three of them for future fixtures in a bid to freshen things up.

They could benefit from the rest and they could also benefit from knowing that their spots in Rodgers’ starting line-up are not invincible.

Mikey Johnston, Youssouf Mulumbu and Daniel Arzani could all come in and replace the senior trio and Celtic fans would surely be happy to see youngsters and summer signings given a chance over underperforming first teamers.

Boyd is 100 per cent spot on here and Rodgers really should be looking to make these changes sooner rather than later.
