Everton attacker Fraser Hornby is attracting a lot of attention after an impressive run of form in the Scotland Under-21s, according to Sun reporter Alan Nixon.

The reliable journalist claimed via his personal Twitter account on Sunday morning that clubs are queuing up to sign the 19-year-old wonderkid on loan in January.

It is understood that Everton have previously blocked a temporary exit for Hornby, but they could be willing to let him leave and earn first team experience for the second-half of the season.

Good move for Everton?

Hornby has only ever made one first team appearance for the Toffees but he has been playing well in the Under-23s and has impressed while playing for Scotland’s Under-21s since May, scoring six goals in seven appearances.

It is about time that he is sent out on loan, hopefully to a Championship club, because that could really see the 19-year-old’s development progress rapidly.

As long as he is somewhere he is playing every week, surrounded by good professionals with plenty of experience, he could come back to Goodison Park at the end of the season ready to feature in the first team more regularly.

Likely to happen?

Nixon suggests that Everton would be open to letting him leave on loan and with clubs reportedly queuing up to sign him, the chances are that this will almost certainly happen.

If Hornby can start to get himself on the scoresheet a bit more in Premier League 2 – he is yet to score in four games playing up front – then he is bound to find a decent Championship team interested in him.

As he is a up-and-coming Scottish player, a move north of the border to play in the Scottish Premiership could also be on the cards.
