West Bromwich Albion striker Jay Rodriguez has gushed about new loan arrival Dwight Gayle, labelling his goal against Stoke City as on a “different level.”
The two forwards have created a partnership that has resulted in a combined total of five goals in the Championship so far, which makes the Baggies the highest scoring club in the second tier.
The 6ft [Transfermarkt] mainstay hailed the club’s summer signing, and highlighted his goal against the Potters as a key moment for the side as they bid to gain promotion back to the Premier League.
“It’s really good to play with Dwight. He’s come in and he’s a great lad off the field. He’s fit in perfectly. The stuff he does on the field; he’s quick, he’s sharp, he works hard. We’ve seen how good his finishing is,” he told the club’s official website.
“The first goal especially against Stoke was a different level. It was a key moment for us to score and he kept a cool head. It’s things like that that you buzz off it.
“We talk a lot and we’re trying to work out little things we can do when we’re up against different types of defenders, and we’ll continue to do that. We’ll continue to do that and hopefully our partnership grows.”

Dwight Gayle appears to have made an instant impact on the West Brom side, and it is clear that he has slotted into the team straight away. The fact that his striking partner has been gushing about him so early on is a sign that his career is heading in the right direction, and fingers crossed that he can continue to maintain this type of form for the rest of the season. West Brom are undoubtedly one of the favourites for promotion, and the duo will only go to contribute to that bid with their partnership. Playing in the Championship seems to suit Gayle a lot better than that of the Premier League, and Baggies’ fans will obviously be hoping that they can nab him on a permanent basis come next year. However, the partnership involving Rodriguez and Gayle will be exciting to see unfold, and hopefully they can continue to keep their team at the top of the goalscoring charts.
