Birmingham City are reportedly in danger of a 12-point deduction this season from the EFL after breaking Financial Fair Play regulations, and many Aston Villa fans have been quick to mock their rivals on social media.

As reported by the Telegraph, the Blues could face such sanctions in the coming weeks after an EFL panel settled on the proposed punishment in recent days.

It is said that the EFL are keen to take a tough stance on Birmingham’s FFP breach, especially after the club signed left-back Kristian Pedersen during a transfer embargo.

In typical fashion Villa fans took to Twitter in the wake of the report to mock the Blues, with one supporter describing the situation as ‘karma’, while another raised the threat of relegation should such sanctions be confirmed.

And, while that is the least to be expected of Villa fans following such a report about their rivals, you can’t help but feel that many have jumped the gun on this one if this is just the start of an EFL crackdown on FFP.

The Villans are widely known to have FFP issues of their own, with manager Steve Bruce referencing that fact on countless occasions of the past season or so.

The club’s huge losses in the wake of their relegation from the Premier League have meant they will most certainly be pushing the limits when it comes to FFP.

While the exact situation is only known to the club, Villa will definitely be among the next clubs in the EFL crosshairs following the confirmation of Birmingham’s sanctions.

It is possible that they are coming down hard on the Blues because of their decision to make a transfer under embargo, but that is not clear at this time, and these fans will end up with egg on their face should Villa also be handed a deduction.

Patience is the best option here, and if Villa are let off with just a fine, or even nothing, then these fans can unleash their mockery on Birmingham.
