Swansea City must act now to secure the future of promising defensive duo Joe Rodon and Connor Roberts rather than waiting any longer to get them to sign new deals.

Both players have made an impressive start to the season and it’s hard not to worry that they’re destined for greatness in football and that their journey may lead the away from the Swans.

This is due to the fact that both Rodon, 20, and Roberts,22, have contracts which are set to expire in June 2019 and this means that if their future isn’t secured by January than other clubs will clearly try to convince the Swans to cash in while they had the chance.

Rodon has been one of the most impressive members of Graham Potter’s side this season as he has looked like a rock in the heart of the club’s defence during the five league outings he has made.

Given that the Championship is a tough league to excel in for even experienced players than surely following the 20-year-old’s impressive display, there will be several clubs putting him on their shortlist.

This is likely to be a similar story with Roberts who has also submitted some stellar performances in his six appearances this season with the right-back being an asset to his side.

The full-back also no doubt put himself on several club’s radars by impressing for Wales on Thursday night as the 22-year-old even managed to grab his first international goal for his country during the 4-1 thrashing of the Republic of Ireland.

Both players have not only showed their worth to the first-team this season but given that both are relatively young, particular Rodon, than the promising duo must be kept at all costs.

It would careless for the Swans to see either of these players go either at the end of their contract as they failed to get them to sign a new deal or because there hands are tied when it comes to accepting a big-money offer for them in January due to their uncertain futures.

The Swans must act now to secure the promising duo’s futures as not only will it be easier to do while the transfer window is closed but it will slow down the number of clubs no doubt starting to take an interest in them as it will make them look off the market.
