West Bromwich Albion boss Darren Moore has waxed lyrical over new signing Wes Hoolahan, who joined the club on a short term deal on Friday.

Moore admitted that the fans should get excited about the former Norwich City fan favourite making the move to the Hawthorns, as he is a player renound for his technical ability.

He also added that the attacking midfielder is capable of offering something different to the team, and that he is definitely going to make a positive contribution to the team over the course of his loan spell.

“We had him in for a few days to have a look at him. He’s a fantastic acquisition to the squad. I think he’ll excite the Albion fans, he’s an intelligent player, he’s a technically gifted player and he’ll give the team another dimension,” Moore told Birmingham Live.

“In terms of his intelligence, understanding and experience, he’s a valuable player to add to the squad. We’re delighted and we welcome him to the club.”

OPINION

Moore is right to heap praise on his new addition to the squad, as he is definitely a player who can provide another dimension to the team this season. The Baggies need all of the attacking talent that they can get their hands on in their promotion quest – and combined with the likes of Dwight Gayle on the front line, West Brom could be fearsome in attack. Yes, he is 36-years-old, so he does not have many playing years left in him, but he can still provide that cutting edge that can allow West Brom to get one over their rivals. He is full of experience – especially playing in the Championship – and that is definitely something that Moore will exploit to the team’s advantage this season. It will be exciting to see what he can offer to the team, and what sort of impact he will make during his short stay.
