Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to hail Jack Grealish’s display for Aston Villa in their 3-1 Championship win against Hull City on Monday night.
The Spurs transfer target did not get on the scoresheet for Steve Bruce’s side but delivered an irresistible second-half performance in a match settled by goals from Tommy Elphick, Ahmed Elmohamady and Alan Hutton.
Grealish was watched closely by Tottenham fans aware of their club’s transfer pursuit and they were impressed by what they saw from the playmaker.
This Is Futbol has rounded up some of the best tweets:
Decent match for Jack Grealish. Didn’t do much wrong, but didn’t really stand out either.
Imo, could do a job for us and give us more depth in midfield which we really need. #COYS— Christopher ???? (@ChrisWrighteous) August 6, 2018
Well if you ask me that was a wonderful performance from Grealish! I really hope we can get this deal finalised. But by the look on Grealish’s face when he came off and clapped I think he knows where he is going! ???? #COYS

Grealish getting subbed off and he looked a little emotional? Maybe a goodbye to the fans and his boyhood club? Get him in, play him as a deep playmaking CM, long term Mousa replacement, will be unreal under Poch #COYS

Some of Grealish’s passing is sublime. I can’t wait to see him in a Lillywhite shirt and anyone thinking this is a poor signing, either hasn’t watched him play or doesn’t know football. Class player who will be as good as Dele #COYS @SpursOfficial #THFC #Grealish

COMMENTARY:
Spurs fans have been split in the last month or two as to whether it is right for their club to pursue Grealish. But the response to the 22-year-old’s performance in Villa’s opening match of the season last night was certainly emphatic. There was barely a dissenting voice on social media, as the Tottenham faithful drooled over the attacking midfielder’s class and technical quality. Villa manager Steve Bruce admitted afterwards there will be a “fraught day or two” for his club as they look to fend off interest in their star player and prize asset, but reiterated that the new Villa owners are adamant they want Grealish to stay. Tottenham’s offers to date have failed to stir the Midlands giant and what is now clear is that chairman Daniel Levy is not going to get this deal done on the cheap.
