A section of Everton fans have taken to Twitter to rage at talkSPORT duo Adrian Durham and Darren Gough for claiming on Tuesday afternoon the club should cash in on exit-linked winger Ademola Lookman.
Sky Sports reported on their website today (Tuesday) that RB Leipzig have tabled a £22million bid for Lookman, who is valued at £28million plus add-ons by his club.
Co-presenters Durham and Gough urged Everton on their Drivetime show this afternoon (4pm) to offload the England Under-21 international to allow him to play regular first-team football.
This did not go down well with Everton supporters, who slammed the broadcasters as “clueless” and “lazy” on their official Twitter account.

@DGoughie and durham talking absolute drivel about lookman why would we sell a player that we want to keep everton are acting in the best interests of EVERTON and rightly so.

@talkSPORT Just because you don’t see Lookman getting playing time at Everton doesn’t mean Silva doesn’t. Clearly he’s good enough to play and he definitely will. We’ve only played 2 games this season for god’s sake. Get a grip. “experts”..

Lookman is a real talent who has been told he is crucial to Everton’s future and is in Silva’s plans. He can’t expect to come straight in. If he has a little patience he will definitely be in our team. Just needs to make sure he has the right attitude.

@talkSPORTDrive clueless ! Your saying sell lookman? So come on Adrian who replaces him as back up on bench offering the same quality??? Or should we just accept bolasie who isn’t good enough. Poor guys your better then that but you won’t quote this one will you

On what grounds are Everton holding Lookman back. Hes clearly a long way off the level required in the prem and hardly blew bundesliga away. He is a young kid and we can do what we want with him @DGoughie

@talkSPORTDrive you’re looking at the Lookman situation from outside the box, without knowing anything about the situation from the inside, pure speculation, lazy!!

@talkSPORTDrive Silva has said repeatedly he wants two players for each position. It’s called squad depth and competition. He will get a chance. It’s up to Lookman to take it when he gets it, surely? If he wants to leave so much, he will hand in a transfer request

@talkSPORTDrive oh here we go trying to conduct another teams transfer policy! If Everton say Lookman is not for sale it’s because they see him as a valuable squad player and he’ll get his chance!

@talkSPORTDrive and @DGoughie with so much misinformation over Lookman. Chelsea have stockpiled young English footballers killing their development with nothing said but little old Everton want to keep one of their talented youngsters and we are out of order ????

COMMENTARY:
Clearly, motormouth pair Durham and Gough have hit a nerve with the Toffees faithful over Lookman. Supporters are convinced their club have a bona fide talent on their hands who has the potential to be a genuine star. Reports of fresh bids from Germany and intense interest in the 20-year-old come at a time when Lookman is not in the team and clearly behind Theo Walcott and Richarlison, not to mention Bernard, in the pecking order for the wide forward roles. But Everton fans don’t want Lookman to go, even if the club’s reported £28million-plus-add-ons valuation is met. And who can blame them? Capped by England at Under-21 level, the January 2017 signing made a huge impact at Leipzig while on loan in the second half of last season, and they want him to replicate that form in a blue jersey at some point in the near future.
