A selection of Tottenham fans have turned to Twitter to poke fun at the news that Vincent Janssen has been ruled out of action as a result of minor foot surgery.

Spurs confirmed on their official Twitter account that the 24-year-old hitman had been seen to by a surgeon to help fix a foot issue he was suffering with, and that he is now set for a spell on the sidelines as he undergoes his recovery process.

However, there were a few Tottenham fans who were less than sympathetic about Janssen’s injury woes on Twitter, instead choosing to poke fun at his lack of playing time, having not featured for the first team in nearly a year.

This is Futbol has rounded up a selection of the supporters’ best tweets:

Opinion

These Spurs fans might not be the most sympathetic but after the sort of performances that Janssen has put in while at the club, it is not really a surprise. He simply has not shown himself to be anywhere near good enough for the first team in north London and it would take a miracle for him to force his way back into the club’s plans. The mocking from the supporters simply shows how little they care about him not being available for the near-future, and it would come as a huge shock to anyone and everyone involved with the club to seem him make a senior return at any point before he inevitably leaves on a permanent basis, perhaps even as soon as the January transfer window. He was replaced by Fernando Llorente, another striker who has failed to live up to the expectations on his shoulders, but with Harry Kane at the club, it is quite clear who is first choice and will be for as long as he is fit and firing.
