Leeds United defender Laurens De Bock could quit the club just six months after joining from Club Brugge, according to HLN.

The Belgian newspaper claim the left-back, 25, is not in the plans of new manager Marcelo Bielsa despite preparing intently during pre-season.

HLN report that De Bock is looking to find a solution to his place in the pecking order at Leeds and there is a good chance he will leave before the transfer window shuts this month.

OPINION

The writing appears to be on the wall for De Bock after he was omitted from the Leeds matchday squad for their convincing 3-1 win over Stoke on Sunday. A week after Barry Douglas was signed from Wolves for a fee of around £3million, the Belgian did not even make the bench despite the late return from the World Cup of Pontus Jansson. It has been a difficult six months at Elland Road for De Bock, who has made just seven unconvincing appearances for the club despite arriving with an impressive CV which included extensive experience in the Belgium top division as well as 11 caps for Belgium Under-21s. Reports have stated that Bielsa does not regard him as a key part of his plans going forward, so it is highly likely he will look for a new home as Leeds look to free up space on their wage bill, especially as they have rising star Tom Pearce to understudy Douglas as well as the versatile Gaetano Berardi. The good news for De Bock is he can secure a move, either on loan or permanently, up until the 31 August to most of Europe’s major leagues.
