Wolves are in the hunt to sign Swansea star Sam Clucas, according to Sky Sports News.

The broadcaster claimed on their official Twitter account on Wednesday morning that the Premier League newcomers are eyeing up Clucas, 27, just a day before the transfer window slams shut at 5pm on Thursday.

Clucas signed for Swansea from Hull last summer and according to statistics website Spotrac, the versatile midfielder is earning £50,000-a-week on his deal at the Liberty Stadium.

Good move for Wolves?

Clucas was arguably one of Swansea’s best players last season as they were relegated from the Premier League.

He made 36 appearances across all competitions for the South Wales club, scoring three goals and supplying two assists in the process.

The former Hull player is extremely versatile and could be eyed up by Nuno Espirito Santo as another option to add to his talent squad if a deal for Manchester City’s Oleksandr Zinchenko doesn’t materialise.

Clucas can play anywhere down the left-flank, whether it is in defence or in attack. He can also do a solid job as a central or defensive midfield player, so if anything, he is more versatile than Zinchenko.

Likely to happen?

At this stage of the transfer window, there must at least be some kind of talks underway for the deal to be completed in time without a huge rush of activity.

Judging by this report, Wolves’ interest does not seem that advanced and if they wanted to sign Clucas, they would surely have to table a bid as soon as possible in order to beat the 5pm deadline on Thursday.
