West Brom are set to miss out on signing Chelsea’s Ola Aina on loan, with the defender set to join Derby instead, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claim on their website that the 21-year-old favours a move to Derby, where he would be managed by Chelsea legend Frank Lampard.

The Baggies had shown interest in bringing Aina to the Hawthorns but it looks as if the club are unlikely to complete their second Premier League loan signing in as many days after securing the services of Man City’s Tosin Adarabioyo.

The Mail adds that West Brom may also be missing out on loaning Lukas Nmecha from the Premier League champions to Leeds United.

OPINION

Ola Aina had a breakthrough season at Hull and the right-back would have been another solid loan signing after snapping up a loan deal for Tosin Adarabioyo from Man City. Aina featured 44 times for Hull last season and is another youngster who needs regular first-team experience with a club lower down the pecking order. Aina has many skills in his game such as strength, pace and ability which can allow him play in more than one role. West Brom are lacking a back-up for Allan Nyom and Aina would have been a respectable candidate who could have been capable of making the position his own. However, he is likely to pair up with Chelsea team mate Mason Mount at Derby and work with Frank Lampard, who he will be wanting to impress since beginning his youth career with Chelsea at the age of 11, looking up to the role model who was a shining example for the club.
