With Burnley’s reported £8million move for Sam Clucas breaking down, West Brom need to swoop for the midfielder.

As reported by Sky Sports, Clucas potential move broke down after the midfielder failed to agree personal terms with the Premier League club after a £8million fee was agreed between the two sides.

This leaves the door ajar for Championship side West Brom to sign the midfielder as he’s someone who could improve the squad ahead of their quest for Premier League promotion.

Darren Moore saw his side huff and puff but they couldn’t blow Bolton Wanderers’ house down on Saturday afternoon, as his side fell to a 2-1 loss on the opening day of the season. Apart from the stunning long-range equaliser from new signing Harvey Barnes, the side failed to create any real opportunities to score, which is a worrying start for the Midlands club.

The signing of Clucas would go some way in solving that problem, as the midfielder possesses a terrific left-foot that can open up defences either with passes, or delivery from wide areas, of which he’s somewhat of a specialist.

Getting some creative midfielders into the team is going to be key to Moore’s promotion push this season, with veteran duo James Morrison and Chris Brunt, along with youngster Sam Field, the only players in the team who are capable of producing a telling final pass.

27-year-old Clucas has proven his Premier League quality with his performances for the Swans over the last few seasons and he he moves to The Hawthorns and does well then he could find himself back there in 12 months time.

For a fee of just £8million, the Baggies must move for the Englishman in the final few days of the window in order to improve their midfield options for the upcoming season.
