A section of West Brom fans were left blown away by the performance of Kyle Edwards in the club’s 1-0 win against Luton Town at The Hawthorns on Tuesday night.
Oliver Burke’s first goal for the Baggies booked a spot in the second round of the competition, but Edwards, 20, had everyone talking about him after the game.
The Dudley-born attacker made his competitive debut for Albion when he came off the bench at half-time and left some fans stunned by how good he is, with one comparing him to Manchester City and England star Raheem Sterling.

OPINION
Edwards has been in truly fantastic form for West Brom since Darren Moore took charge of the Black Country club. The 20-year-old was a regular feature in pre-season games, scoring several goals, and has now earned his senior debut for West Brom. He does possess similar attributes to Man City’s Sterling, as one supporter points out, and it will be interesting to see whether or not he can continue on this path of development to be a first team regular at The Hawthorns. West Brom fans love it when youth players break into the first team and against Luton, there were four academy graduates on the pitch at the same time. Sam Field, Rekeem Harper and Jonathan Leko are all promising talents too. Maybe West Brom won’t have to dip their toes too much into the transfer market in years to come if they keep producing talent like this. Let’s just hope they end up better than Saido Berahino.
