Aaron Tshibola is edging towards leaving Aston Villa to re-sign for Kilmarnock, according to the Scottish Sun.

The newspaper claims online that the 23-year-old has already been in training with the Scottish Premiership club after being deemed as surplus to requirements at Villa Park.

Tshibola, who cost Villa £5million two years ago and has made just 10 appearances for the West Midlands club since, spent the second half of last season on loan at Kilmarnock, and it looks as though he impressed Steve Clarke enough to warrant a second spell.

Good move for Aston Villa?

No matter what Villa do with Tshibola, it will be impossible to cancel out the horrific business pulled off when the midfielder was signed for £5million from Reading in 2016.

He has cost the Villains £500,000-per-game, and that is an inexcusable piece of business by the old regime.

Steve Bruce simply has to get rid of him though because not only will it cut losses, but also be the best possible move for the player, who was clearly never cut out to play for a team gunning for promotion from the Championship.

Likely to happen?

Tshibola managed to impress while on loan at Rugby Park last season and played a key role in helping Kilmarnock avoid relegation and earn a top-half finish in the Scottish Premiership, beating Rangers and Celtic on the way.

It is very much likely that Clarke would want to re-sign the midfielder, so this is certainly a deal that could be sealed before deadline day on Friday.
