Tottenham forward Reo Griffiths has passed a medical with Lyon, according to Sky Sports.

The broadcaster claims that the 18-year-old’s move to France is now hinging on whether or not he accepts personal terms with the Ligue 1 giants.

It is understood that Spurs would be due compensation from Griffiths’ move to Lyon as he has been on the books at the North London club for the last six years.

Good move for Tottenham?

In no way is this a good deal for Tottenham. They are losing one of their best young players, who scored 33 goals last season, and will hardly get anything to show for it as the compensation fee will only be minimal as he’s never played in the senior side.

Daniel Levy has really dropped the ball here and Griffiths should have been offered a better deal for him to extend his stay in North London.

It could become a common theme at the club in the future too if Mauricio Pochettino does not start handing more players a chance to shine in the youth team.

With Fernando Llorente and Vincent Janssen so poor in the last couple of seasons, players like Griffiths should have been called upon to show their potential in cup games and as back-up to Harry Kane.

Likely to happen?

It does seem as though this deal will be done soon and there’s little chance that Griffiths would have agreed to undergo a medical if he was going to have issues with accepting personal terms.

It’s odd that they have been done that way around, but either way, this deal can be expected to be wrapped up soon.
